About Riverside Energy Michigan
Riverside Energy Michigan is the state’s leading natural gas producer, anchored in the Antrim Shale play. We maintain working interests in approximately 7,000 wells and operate 5,600 wells across northern Michigan, delivering 85 net MMcf of natural gas daily.
We also operate Michigan’s largest carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility, capturing over 500,000 tons of CO₂ annually from Antrim Shale oil and gas production and setting the standard for sustainable energy practices.
Beyond operations, we manage over 650,000 acres in the Antrim formation and more than 300,000 acres of deep rights throughout Michigan; assets that lay the groundwork for future energy innovation.
Our History
The Antrim Shale is a mature biogenic natural gas play known for its reliability and low decline production profile. Development of these assets began in the 1990s under previous operators, forming the foundation of one of Michigan’s most significant natural gas resource positions.
Since acquiring the assets in 2016, Riverside has expanded its footprint through strategic acquisitions including Riviera Resources, Inc. and Breitburn Operating, Inc., solidifying our position as Michigan’s leading natural gas producer.
